I believe that an industrial designer is a select type of person. This person is the one who looks at a sculpture and ponders how they made it, instead of the meaning behind it. This is the person who would as a child, interrogate their family for answers to every possible question, or pull apart perfectly working toys to find out why they did what they did. Above all, I believe that an industrial designer is someone who has exposed themselves to many different experiences, situations, and locations throughout their life that has ultimately shaped them into the person they are today. Whether these experiences are good or bad, the ‘designer type’ is always the one to say “count me in” on a trip, or “I’ll give it a go” when faced with a challenge.
I believe I embody this principle, and with my growing knowledge of effective design, I aim to make a positive impact on people, whilst having a negative
impact on the problems that affect the world. Whether that’s finding a solution that solves a problem for 1 or 1 million people, I aim to ensure that my design caters to the needs and wants of the user, whilst also doing my part to solve global problems greater than the immediate issues in front of me.
